Welcome to my world of natural resources!
Welcome to my blog webpage! This summer I am a natural resources intern for Virginia Cooperative Extension(VCE). This internship is a cooperative internship through Mana LEAF (Manassas Link to Education About Forests) with the Virginia Department of Forestry(VDOF/DOF) and the National Park Service (NPS). I will be working in the Manassas National Battlefield Park with the NPS and in Conway Robinson State Forest with VDOF. LEAF is a unique partnership with state, federal, and non-profit organizations to promote natural resource education by utilizing venues which promote heritage and tourism. My responsibilities include field work for VDOF and NPS as well as developing an interpretation program and educating others on the natural and cultural history of the areas I will be working in. By participating in this program I hope to achieve a solid foundation in best practices of sustainability, develop further knowledge about natural resources, and educate others about preserving our natural resources both locally and globally.
This site will serve as my record of internship as I will update my blog posts each week with what I have done, seen, learned, accomplished, and maybe even failed at doing. My posts will be honest in nature and true to my point of view. I also have posted and will continue to post pictures of my activities and other items that pertain to my internship this summer. My email information is located in the upper right hand corner of my homepage. I hope you enjoy experiencing a taste of what I have been accomplishing these summer months. This is truly a labor of love project for me. Enjoy!
